Webquests

What are webquests?

Well, they are enquiry based lessons where all of the material comes from the internet. The students are given a project (hopefully one they are passionate about!) They then are allocated different tasks to investigate in groups. Each group has a different perspective. After a set time of looking at different links and processing the information the groups all come back together and report their findings.

Click here to watch a youtube video about webquests.

I have found one example of a webquest based around Britain's multicultural society and click here to see it! Webquests are more common in the American educational system.

Webquests were created by Bernie Dodge in San Diego in 1995. Click here to go directly to his home page where you can find out all you need to know about webquests.

his link will take you to the edublogs blog. Blogs especially for teachers! Here you will find lots of advice about how to use blogs in the classroom.

You can create instant 'clickable' links to different websites simply by highlighting the word/s you want to use as your link and then pressing the symbol which looks like a chain. You then have to copy the address into the http:// line and then just press enter. You can copy the links directly from the address panel and then just paste them. Ctrl C is copy and Ctrl V is paste.

For instance if you click here. You will click through to my edublog blog!

Try linking to a favourite site of yours on your blog!

Create a blog

Blogs are about communicating and if you can use MS Word then you can BLOG!
People need a passion to blog and also interest. Creating an online diary is the best reason to blog and you are in the UK for a week, so this is the ideal opportunity for you to create your own blog and record your time spent here!

For your homework can you please either
  • create your own holiday in Oxford blog and publish your first post.
or
  • create a blog about a hobby or passion you have. Write about your area of expertise!
For this blog I am using

http://www.blogger.com

If you are comfortable with another site please use that.

Please try and post something every day so that on Friday we can showcase our blogs to each other.

Hello everybody

Now, I have a gmail account which makes opening a blog on this site even easier. I would highly recommend that you firstly open a gmail account too.
